Farmhouse Glam!
How long have you been creating in this arena?

When you aren’t feeling creative, what do you do to get back into a groove?
I stalk Pinterest!!  I may see some pieces done by other artist and take what I like from each piece and come up with my own creative way to refinish a piece. Be unique!
Do you struggle with perfectionism or are you more of a “get started and see where it takes me” kinda gal?
Oh my word, YES! I start a piece with a game plan and as I’m working, my mind says “Ohh what about this? Or what if you did that?” DRIVES ME NUTS but it’s how my mind works. Attention to detail is huge for me also.
Of all of your projects can you recall one that just made you beam with satisfaction?
Oh there’s many but this hutch with French Toile Fabric still has me grinning from ear to ear.

What insights can you share with fellow creatives regarding fostering their creativity and growth?
Don’t be afraid to try new techniques and stepping outside your box! Conquering your fear will only make you a better artist and person.
Finally, of all the IOD range, what do you anticipate loving most, and why?
I’m most excited about your transfers. I’ve dabbled in hand painting images, using a projector, and the dreaded image transfer with having to remove the paper (which never works the way I want it to) so the ease of your transfers have me most giddy!

how would you describe your style?
“Vintage Shabby Bohemian Chic” is the best way to describe it with lovely earth tones mixed with a surprise pop of boldness in undertone color or layers of texture and movement, just makes my soul sing!
How long have you been creating in this arena?
I started strictly branding myself as Girl UPcycled in 2012 but have been professionally working as a decorator since the 90’s with Special Event, Seasonal and Exterior Decorating for a large company that catered to their tourism.
When you arent feeing creative, what do you do to get back into a groove?
I know that there are so many decorating sites at our fingertips out there but I really like to look to visual artists for inspiration. They all have a unique style whether it’s the colors they choose, the movement and texture of their body of work to the mixed media layers they may add, oh I could get lost for hours researching artists!
Do you struggle with perfectionism or are you more of a “get started and see where it takes me” kinda gal?
Ohhh this one has me laughing, I will never be called a perfectionist I’m more of a “just jump in and start” kinda gal with the attitude “hey, what’s the worst thing that could possibly happen here? My paint class students hear me preach about this all the time, basically saying, don’t let the fear of starting stop your creative freedom-it’s just not that big of a deal!
Of all of your projects can you recall one that just made you beam with satisfaction? Show us!
This is like being ask to choose a favorite child lol. But this one was just what my spirit needed to do at the moment because I was spreading my wings with my business decisions so wings are very symbolic to me. I wish you could see the hand painted detailing a bit closer the pictures really do it no justice. I used very very thin strips of old book pages and mixed them in with the hand painted feather detailing for subtle texture and then added beautiful crystal pulls that just sparkled.

What insights can you share with fellow creatives regarding fostering their creativity and growth?
Be your authentic self. Yes, get inspiration from others but never lose sight of who and what you are personally and let that spirit radiate from the projects you create.
Finally, of all the IOD range, what do you anticipate loving most, and why?
Ohh my, another hard question, there is so much to love about the IOD projects! For me I’m so excited to add layers with the beautiful stamps and rollers. But then, the large transfers are going to be a total game changer for me to add large artwork to buffet and dressers etc. It’s going to be so much quicker than always hand painting designs on everything (which is what I’m used to spending time doing) so this is going to give me yet another custom option without all of the hours to get it finished, oh I could go on and on about the IOD products!

Of all of your projects can you recall one that just made you beam with satisfaction? Show us!
I have alot of project s that I’m proud of but my favorite was an old, mid century buffet that I bought for $40 at the Salvation army that I made beautiful again and ended up selling for $800

What insights can you share with fellow creatives regarding fostering their creativity and growth?
Go with your gut and try different things until you find that thing that you absolutely love to do more than anything! Take time for yourself and feed that hunger that is your creative side!
Finally, of all the IOD range, what do you anticipate loving most, and why?
I LOVE all of the IOD products so it’s tough to choose just one but I anticipate using the transfers the most as it ties in with what I do.
