A Treasure Trove of IOD Project Tutorials

Updated January 2021

Have you blazed through all our videos on YouTube and want even more IOD project tutorials?

If you answered, “Heck, yeah!” then you’ll love exploring IOD Facebook Lives.

What are IOD Facebook Lives?

Every week you can tune in to watch 6-8 brand new, live DIY home decor video tutorials on our Facebook page.

Each live “show” goes on at a pre-scheduled time and is hosted by a rotating cast of talented IOD retailers — who we call “stockists.”

You’ll get to see step-by-step furniture makeovers, how to distress a vintage sign, DIY jewelry techniques, how to create a faux leather field journal and so much more — all broadcasted live using Iron Orchid Designs products.

For example, just last week, Michelle from Serendipity House showed step-by-step how to embellish and antique these shelf brackets. Click here to watch the full video on Facebook.

In this day and age where so many videos are pre-recorded, a live DIY home decor tutorial can be a real treat!

You can see how many people are watching in real time right along with you. Also, you can get your project questions answered right then and there by the show host.

And Facebook Lives are where our stockists share their best tips and tricks for getting just the look you want on a project.

As a “bonus” (wink, wink), you’ll also get to see any funny bloopers and learn how to fix all kinds of mistakes because there’s no video editing at all. You get to see every whoopsie, smudge and smear made as the project is created.

When can I see an IOD Facebook Live Show?

Introducing the IOD TV Guide – so you know just when to tune in for your favorite IOD project tutorials on Facebook!

Just like an old school TV Guide, it’s a schedule for when Live videos will be airing on the IOD Facebook page.

Here’s the latest edition  of the IODTV Guide for Winter 20-21.

Pin this to save it for later.

In the guide, you can see the name of the stockist who’s hosting the show as well as the day and time they’re hosting. All you need to do is show up on the IOD Facebook page at the time the show is scheduled.

Easy as pie!

Now, you might already know all about Facebook Lives, but just in case…

How can I tune into a live show on Facebook?

Go to the IOD Facebook page at the scheduled time for the show. You’ll see it broadcasting right at the top of the feed.

How can I get reminders of when a live show is about to happen?

There is nothing more annoying than missing a show you wanted to watch!

If you want to make sure you get reminders, here are the steps:

  1. Go to the IOD Facebook page by clicking here
  2. Click on “Like”
  3. Then, click the down arrow next to “Following”
  4. Select “See First” under “In Your News Feed”
  5. Select “On” under “Notifications”

And voilà! You will be the first to know when a live show is starting! (The Notifications will also tell you when you missed one so you can click on the notification to go directly to the replay.)

You can also go to “Events” and respond that you’re “Going” to an event. Then Facebook will send you a reminder shortly before the Live starts.

Oh, no, I missed a show! Can I still see it after it’s over?

No worries! You can easily catch the replay and view the complete library of past shows.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the IOD Facebook page by clicking here
  2. Click on the Video tab in the left sidebar. That will let you see the three most recent videos on the right.
  3. If you want to watch more videos, you just click “See All” then scroll down past the video playlists until you see the section called “All Videos.”

Are you ready to check out an IOD Facebook Live?

We hope to see you at one of the shows soon. Don’t forget to let the host know you’re there by saying “Hi!” in the comments.

Do you have an idea for a live video tutorial we should do? We’d love to hear from you. Please post your suggestions in the comments below.

Now, go create something beautiful!

I Love your transfers and was wondering if they can be uses on trailers? I have a vintage camper that I would love to cover in flowers 🙂

      Hi Jennifer,

Outside is definitely off label use. With that said , people do them all the time outside.

    Hello
I was wondering if you put transfer onto stained wood ?

      Hi Jackie,
In all of our testing a sealed surface greatly enhances the initial bond of the transfer. I would seal it with your finish, then apply the transfer.
      Happy creating!

I have a project I am working on using your molds. One of the options in one of your molds is a cascading stream of pearls. I have tried several times to use this on a piece of furniture I am redecorating. Unfortunately, it keeps breaking apart when I release it from the mold, which I dust with cornstarch before I put the clay in. Any suggestions would be helpful!❤️

      Hi Linda,

I am sorry that I missed your comment. What medium are you using for this project? 😊

Total newbie here! I am trying to figure out what to do with a challenging piece of furniture – an old Empire-style, barrel-top desk that is quite squat and heavy-looking, starting with that almost black mahogany finish. Do you have anything on how to approach a piece of furniture. I thought using the transfers on paint could mask the visual weight of this piece, but I don’t know how. Other might also like a primer on how to approach challenging furniture pieces. (I have pictures if you want to see what I’m talking about.)
    Thanks!
