This is a long time in the making. My sophia is now 8 months old and I’m just now getting around to photographing her finished nursery to share.
We moved into our home here last October when I was 6 months pregnant and there was a lot of work to do to accomplish a room for her. In fact there was no room where she is now, it was a theater. ( That sounds grander than it really is, it was a large room which was painted dark and had a screen on the wall) We made it into two bedrooms because with 5 children you need rooms more than you need a theater!
Being that Sophia is my last baby I really wanted to have fun and go all in with her nursery. I had a wonderful time perusing little vintage boutiques and flea markets for the accessories. The beautiful canvas is an image of sophia at 10 days old by Tiny Dreamers. She’s the best newborn photographer EVER!
I had the bedding made by a wonderful seamstress Mary Lee Sonke who also happens to be a friend of mine! Check her out at The Purple Carrot. She did an amazing job and we used Iron Orchid fabrics. The Provencial collection by Clothworks. Provencial is no longer available, sold out. Sorry! But I think Devotion would make a scrumptious set… in fact it would have been my choice but it wasn’t out yet!
Because we designed the fabric, I was able to use the designs to create some wall art for above the crib. As a special bonus for visiting today I’m making it a free download. Of course I took the letters off so that you can put your own letters on or whatever you might envision there. A sweet black and white photo would look darling! I’m asking that you take a minute to follow us on Instagram before you download the free printables, but I have not required it :). I will say that there will be more fab give aways in the near future especially as we gear up for our release of Iron Orchid Decor! It would be so sad if you missed out on that, we’re really staying more active on instagram these days than anywhere else as it seems a fun and visual place for a business such as ours to be.
I hope you enjoyed reading about the transformation of Sophia’s vintage nursery! It’s my happy place as I sit and read her stories in the sweet pink rocking chair.
