This time of year, crafting tends to feel a little more special, like we’re not just decorating our homes, but weaving cherished memories into the season itself.

Today, we’re sharing a simple yet stunning project with the Clementine Transfer. A wood tray, brushed in soft white, becomes something you’ll reach for year after year, whether it’s serving cocoa, gingerbread cookies, or simply catching the morning light on your kitchen counter.

• 12x16” or 11x14” Wood Blank

• Clementine Transfer

• Metal Door Handles (or any handles from your stash 😉)
• Dark Wax

STEP ONE: PAINT YOUR WOOD BLANK 

To start, we painted our wood blank with a soft white chalk paint and let it dry completely. If needed, go in with a second coat for full coverage. Our paint has a built-in topcoat, but if yours doesn’t, just brush on a thin layer of water-based topcoat to seal everything up. Let it dry before moving on.

STEP TWO: APPLY YOUR TRANSFER

Next, apply a sheet from the Clementine Transfer. We opted for a horizontal layout for our tray, so we trimmed out the center text to make it fit just right. Remember, transfers are meant to be flexible, so don’t hesitate to grab those scissors and tailor your design to suit your project!

STEP THREE: APPLY WAX

Next, we applied clear wax, then dark, working into all the little nooks and crannies.

STEP FOUR: ATTACH HANDLES

Finally, we added handles to our wood board. We recommend pre-drilling your holes according to the handle instructions. Trust us, it’ll make things so much easier!
