Meet Siobhan Smith (a.k.a Von Boo), a talented maker and friend of the IOD community. If you’ve been involved in the IOD community for a while now, then odds are you’ve seen a few of her gorgeous projects.

25 years ago, Von picked up a paintbrush, dusted off the lid to some leftover paint from home projects, and began her first furniture flip. Von found peace and tranquility in her creativity and newfound hobby, which quickly became an extremely therapeutic outlet from her career as an ER pediatric nurse.

15 years later, Von found herself delving deeper into various painting styles and techniques using IOD products to compliment her colorful farmhouse aesthetic. "I love combining IOD products...layering stamps with transfers and now the fabulous paint inlays to create unique, authentically aged pieces."

We caught up with Von and asked her to share some advice with the IOD community and newcomers who may be on the cusp of discovering their creative passion. From Von, "My motto has always been imperfect is perfect. Grasp this motto because if you stress about achieving perfection you will not enjoy the creative process, you will not embrace the cathartic intention of furniture painting."

Thank you, Von. We love this advice! Like we always say, handmade is always better and imperfections make it perfect. Keep that creative energy flowing!

Look for more beautiful creations from Von Boo in future IOD releases. ❤️ Until then, enjoy these gorgeous Von Boo flips using IOD products.
