how to DIY a little Bohemian into your life
It’s no secret that the bohemian style, with it’s free and breezy ways, is well embraced at the moment. I love the way bohemian touches can give even the stuffiest atmosphere sudden ease and beckons us in. One has only to peruse Pinterest briefly to see the many ways in which people are incorporating a bohemian vibe into their decor and even their fashion. If you know anything about Jos and I then you know we have gypsy in our blood.
We, of course, infuse this into our lives in many different ways. Live plants in containers made of organic materials, raw and rustic shelving with old books, mixing pattern and color with tossed pillows onto your sofa, chair or bed, and Josie loves to drape exotic Saris about . With fashion, mixing the styles up by wearing cowboy boots with a. breezy statement sleeve blouse, or some heavy baroque jewelry with a distressed tee and some chunky heeled clogs. The only rule is, there are no rules. However, our favorite way to pull in some bohemian is with our IOD products! Below are some ways that we and others have been using the brand new Summer 2018 release of IOD to easily bring in the bohemian style in authentic and distinctive ways.
This beautiful bold bohemian beauty was made by Lynne Brundage of Ellen J. Goods in New York. You can find her shop which carries the full IOD line of DIY Products here: ELLEN J. GOODS
She used Bohemian Borders Decor Transfer and mixed it with Redoute 4 and Le Petite Rosier! Swooning over the mix! This is the kind of piece that centers a room. If it was gracing my abode, I would mix it in with plenty of neutrals allowing it to command the stage without competition! picture it covered with white planters all in different sizes and textures, but filled with greenery cascading and spilling over the top, some worn and distressed chocolate colored leather sofas, same size and facing each other flanked with a heavy brass based glass coffee table with old books piled on top and of course… a plant 🙂 You get the idea! OOOH wait, before I move on… this scenario simply MUST include an emerald velvet armchair!
As long as we are on the bold and the beautiful, how about this gorgeous bureau by Michelle Phippard of Serendipity House ( find her shop HERE )
For a fun beach cottage twist on the whole bohemian flavor how about this stamped tile backsplash using the new Decor Stamps in a variety of designs ( because it’s all about the mix!) and a variety of Chalk Paint colors. ( tutorial coming on instagram TV! follow us @ironorchid_design)
Personally, I LOVED the tile with the saturated and more detailed impressions, but Jos gave it a sand down to create a more toned down feel. That’s what we love about the IOD line, it’s all about giving you control and bringing your vision to a reality.
If you’re wanting to bring in the boho and curious about some quick and easy ways ( we like to call those, snack size projects) to do so, why not start with a planter? This takes about 20 minutes tops and it’s a perfect summer time project. If you’d like to tackle this planter, check out the tutorial HERE
and as we say farewell we will leave you with this inspirational way to say hello to your guests… (made with our Decor Stamps in Birds Blossoms and Branches, Welcome is created with Typesetting Decor Stamps ) Make sure to connect with your local IOD Stockist HERE to start procuring your own collection of IOD Decor tools and products! Have a GREAT weekend everyone and GO make something beautiful!
