Add a Little Western Bohemian Style with the IOD Desperado Transfer
Peanut butter and jelly, peaches and cream, macaroni and cheese… you feeling a theme ( besides the fact that I *might* be writing this on an empty stomach 🤣 )? How about Western Bohemian?

If you’re new to the combo, I guarantee it’s better than peanut butter and oatmeal. Then again ANYTHING is better than peanut butter and oatmeal!!! 🙊 (Ask me how I know… when Josie was a teenager she’d experiment with recipes and make our brother, Andy, and I eat them. This was NOT her finest combo, but like anything else… practice makes perfect and she’s now a fabulous and intuitive cook! You know what we’re always telling you, it’s all about the reps.)
But I digress, my point is — we LOVE the Western Bohemian interior design style for SO. MANY. REASONS! The way the Western aesthetic taps into the essence of established roots, while the Bohemian vibe appeals to the free-spirited wanderer.
It really is a beautiful contrast (or should I say compliment) — and it’s the inspiration for our new Desperado Transfer!
All About Western Bohemian Style & the IOD Desperado Transfer
Before jumping in, I would remiss if I didn’t give credit where MUCH credit is due!
Some of you know that Maddy, our Director of Operations ( the one who keeps Jos and me in line ) is Josie’s daughter. Well, she’s the inspiration behind the new Desperado Transfer and was integral in the design process! This is her vibe ALL. THE. WAY! She’s a rodeo riding, leather workin’, baby totin’, mom bossin’, QUEEN!! Ok, obviously I’m a huge fan of my niece, but bottom line, you can thank her for bringing this interior design style into the latest IOD transfer collection!
4 Essential Elements of Western Bohemian Decor Style
When we developed the Desperado Transfer, we focused on four aspects of Western Bohemian decor.
Element 1: Traditional Western and Southwestern imagery
Think cactus plants, Native American patterns, bison imagery, and animal skulls (both plain and embellished)…
Element 2: Subtle touches of feminity juxtaposed against the harshness of the desert climate
Think blossoms on a skull; Visual elements that invoke feelings of thriving despite (or perhaps because of) adversity; Symbols of resilience and strength. (Hmmmm… like “iron” and “orchid” … it all makes sense now!)
Element 3: Raw and organic materials are woven throughout
Think chunky knit blankets, nubby linen curtains, woven baskets, leather, cowhide, and rustic woods showing their natural grains…
Element 4: Neutral colors with warm undertones
Think light, bright, and fresh feel grounded by deep rich hues of russet red and muted plums
