Our lovely IOD Artisan, Vonnie Smith, has us swooning with this vintage furniture flip using the Partridge Lane Transfer, Winter Botanist Transfer, and Christmas Joy Transfer from our 2025 Holiday Collection. She preps her thrifted find with fresh updates, adding a bottom shelf and stripping away the old paint before layering on a snowy finish with white mineral paint and texture powder over a rich black base.

She applies elements from the Partridge Lane Transfer to create a snowy nighttime scene with charming Christmas cottages. Vonnie finishes by sealing with clear wax, resulting in a beautifully vintage table perfect for the holiday season.

IOD Products Needed:

Other Supplies:

  • Off-White Mineral Paint
  • Black Mineral Paint
  • Texture Powder
  • Paint Brush
  • Clear Wax Sealer

Step-by-Step Guide

STEP ONE: CREATE A TEXTURED BASE LAYER

For the base, Vonnie chose a combination of off-white mineral paint mixed with texture powder, followed by layers of rich black mineral paint. This combination creates a snowy, vintage appearance. She used an old brush to apply the first layer and added texture randomly to make it feel more authentic.

STEP TWO: PLAY WITH IOD TRANSFERS

Once the paint was dry, Vonnie cut out bits from Partridge Lane, mixing in a few motifs from Winter Botanist and Christmas Joy. She used a bit of tape to play with placement and make sure everything lined up just right. And remember, nothing’s set in stone! You can always rearrange your designs as you go.

STEP THREE: FINAL TOUCHES AND SEALING

To tie everything together, Vonnie focused on creating a harmonious flow between all elements. Using extra pieces from Partridge Lane, she added festive wreaths and ribbons to finish her wintery composition.

Vonnie chose to seal her project with clear wax to keep the colors vibrant and protect the surface. For an added vintage touch, dark wax could be used, but this time she opted for simplicity.
