How To: Create Sophisticated Small Decor with IOD Moulds

Jonathon is at it again! This time, he’s upcycling two thrifted finds. First, a tired old lamp base AND a printed pot that had plenty of shape but not quite the right look. These thrifted pieces may not look like much at first glance, but with a little IOD clay and the right moulds, these pieces are right at home in a French countryside vignette.

In this tutorial, Jonathan creates a soft, almost porcelain look that's rich with texture yet subtle with contrast. He starts with a base of chalk-type paint, layering in castings from the Juliette, Swags, and Laurel moulds. While the planter is wrapped in romantic florals from Juliette, the lamp is treated as a creative composition, combining multiple moulds to create something so lovely and traditional.

As always, Jonathan’s attention to design and balance helps inspire a piece that feels elevated and elegant, without ever feeling fussy. It’s a great reminder that even simple projects can become vintage heirlooms when approached with creativity and thoughtfulness. ❤️
