Step-by-Step Guide
STEP ONE: PAINT YOUR WOODEN EGGS & ARRANGE YOUR COMPOSITION
Let's give those eggs a beautiful base! Start with a soft white chalk paint and coat the entire surface—front, back, and sides. Propping them up helps keep the paint even while drying. Once they’re fully dry, it’s time for the fun part—inlays!
We’re pulling some of the sweetest chicks and rabbits from the Spring Melody Paint Inlay for this project. Cut out your pieces—the medium-sized motifs fit perfectly on our eggs. Don’t overthink the placement—part of the charm is that slightly imperfect, hand-crafted look!

STEP TWO: APPLY YOUR PAINT INLAYS
Once you’ve settled on your layout, it’s time to apply those inlays! Start with a nice, even coat of paint over the surface of your egg—remember, dry spots won’t grab the inlay, so be generous with that paint.
Give your inlay a light mist with water, then apply it to the paint. We love using a brayer to get good, even contact, but your fingers or a damp paper towel work just as well. Press gently, making sure all those lovely details are settled in. Repeat this for each egg. Let them sit until they’re dry, then remove the inlay.

STEP THREE: SEAL YOUR PAINT INLAYS
Once they’re dry, seal your eggs with a spray sealer or a roller—trust us, brushes can smudge those delicate details, so keep it simple! Let them dry completely before moving on.

STEP FOUR: INSERT YOUR EYELETS
Now for the finishing touch—adding your eyelets! You could use a drill, but honestly, a little elbow grease works just as well. Just apply steady pressure and twist them in directly. Easy peasy!

STEP FIVE: STRING YOUR EGGS & APPLY YOUR RIBBON
For the garland, we went with a 48” length, but honestly, you can make yours as long or short as you like. Just leave a little extra at the ends to tie them into loops for easy hanging.
Once your eggs are strung onto the twine, it’s time to add those ribbons! We chose soft, pastel chiffon ribbons with unfinished edges. No need to be too precise here—we kept the lengths between 10–12” for a natural drape. We didn’t even use all the ribbons from the order, so if you’re grabbing yours from a craft store, about 6 yards per color should do the trick.
Loop the ribbons around the twine, alternating colors until the garland feels full and balanced. A little unevenness adds to the charm, so just go with the flow! 💕
